On a related note, ROCKWOOL recently released its Annual and Sustainability Reports, detailing key sustainability milestones achieved in 2022, including goals with carbon and water intensity of our production, increasing the energy efficiency of our buildings, reducing waste going to landfills, and finally, increasing the number of countries where recycling programs are offered. 

Shortly after the reports were released, ROCKWOOL CEO, Jens Birgersson, reflected on the past year and thanked the ROCKWOOL team for their hard work and dedication.

In this year’s sustainability report, our good friends, and customers at Cannara Biotech, were highlighted for not only their use of Grodan stone wool, but their team’s commitment to efficient growing techniques.  

Located in beautiful Valleyfield, Quebec, Cannara owns and operates two state-of-the art facilities, both of which have been fully outfitted with automated lighting, irrigation, biomonitoring, and robotics to ensure quality and consistency. Batch after batch, Cannara's dedication to producing premium craft cannabis has quickly made them one of Quebec's fast-growing licensed producers. 

During a recent conversation, Nicholas Sosiak, CFO at Cannara, spoke about the importance of minimizing their ecological footprint and how using Grodan stone wool has allowed them to achieve their sustainability goals while simultaneously improving the yield and quality of their cannabis.  

“Cannara uses Grodan’s stone wool in its U.S facilities, which span over 1 650 000 square feet. By using stone wool, we are able to filter, purify, and recycle the water we use, allowing us to minimize our ecological footprint. The stone wool growing media works in concert with our automated lighting, irrigation, humidity and biomonitoring controls to ensure quality, consistency, increased plant yield, and reduced operating and cultivation costs”
